Reinventing Collapse: The Soviet Example and American Prospects
If you are concerned about how the impending peak in world oil production might affect us here in the United States, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Dimitri Orlov’s Reinventing Collapse. Dimitri grew up in the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States about ten years before the Soviet collapse. He traveled back and forth several times between these two countries, shortly before, during and after the fall of the former Soviet Union. Orlov witnessed first hand the effects on the Russian people as their systems of commerce, government, and paper currency totally collapsed. He draws poignant correlations between the United States’ current precarious economic situation, and Russia’s precursors to collapse, that are illuminating, sobering and frightening. The observations and advice that Dimitri provides could prove extremely helpful for navigating your way through an all-too-near future. Highly recommended!
